Join Our Team
Reason advances a free society by developing, applying, and promoting libertarian principles, including individual liberty, free markets, and the rule of law. We use journalism and public policy research to influence the frameworks and actions of policymakers, journalists, and opinion leaders.
The marketing team’s goal is to increase the audience for Reason’s videos, articles, newsletters, podcasts, and live events. Being a member of this team requires creativity, collaboration, comfort with experimentation, flexibility, and a focus on results.
About the Role
Reason is seeking content creators, storytellers, and video journalists to join our growing marketing team and create social media videos for Reason. As a Vertical Video Specialist, you’ll be responsible for conceiving, producing, and appearing in short-form social media videos–such as YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, or TikToks–that advance Reason’s mission and appeal to a broad audience.
The ideal candidate will have strong on-camera skills and storytelling skills, a knack for finding new topics or angles on current events, and a passion for exploring the kinds of stories often overlooked by mainstream media. We’re looking for someone with demonstrated experience in making successful videos for social media platforms. Alignment with Reason’s mission is a must, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively. You must be open to feedback, creative, motivated, focused on performance metrics, and a self-starter.
We will consider applicants without significant on-camera experience if they can point to successful video projects that do not involve on-camera work.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, this is a full-time position as part of Reason’s Fellowship Program with the option to be in-office in Washington, D.C. or to work virtually anywhere in the US.
About the Fellowship
The fellowship is a year-long, full-time, paid position with benefits and a great opportunity for entry-level or early-career talent. The experience will give you a chance to explore and promote the principles of individual liberty, free markets, and the rule of law while building your resume and learning from seasoned professionals who share your passion for free minds and free markets. Past fellows have remained with Reason in a permanent capacity or moved on to other opportunities in our network.
