The marketing team’s goal is to increase the audience for Reason’s videos, articles, newsletters, podcasts, and live events. Being a member of this team requires collaboration, organization, comfort with experimentation, flexibility, and a focus on results.
About the Role
Reason is seeking a Marketing Specialist to join our growing marketing team. This position will be responsible for helping us grow our audience through targeted digital advertising, SEO-based campaigns, event marketing, audience segmentation, landing page conversion, media partner marketing, and newsletter advertising.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in marketing, media, communications, or an equivalent field and a thorough understanding of the digital marketing landscape. Alignment with Reason’s mission is a must, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, this is a full-time position as part of Reason’s Fellowship Program with the option to be in-office in Washington, D.C. or to work virtually anywhere in the US.

The fellowship is a year-long, full-time, paid position with benefits and a great opportunity for entry-level or early-career talent. Past fellows have remained with Reason in a permanent capacity or moved on to other opportunities in our network.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, execution, and implementation of marketing programs and/or campaigns that align with the organization’s goals and objectives
- Manage campaigns to promote Reason’s D.C. and NYC-based events, primarily through social media, site advertising, newsletter advertising, and email marketing
- Manage digital marketing, SEO-based campaigns, and email marketing efforts
- Develop strategies for reaching new listeners, viewers, and readers and converting them into subscribers
- Participate in setting audience growth goals and creating plans to meet those goals
- Use website analytics, segmentation strategy, and social media tools to track and analyze data for placement and targeting opportunities
- Track conversion trends, draft performance reports, present recommendations to management, and evaluate new initiatives, as agreed upon
- Collaborate with senior leadership in the development of strategic plans to ensure continued successful audience growth
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in marketing, media, communications, or an equivalent field
- Familiarity with the current digital marketing landscape
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills, including familiarity with organizational tools
- An understanding of content marketing best practices
- Outstanding copywriting, communications, and content creation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize various projects and online campaigns
- Attention to detail for precise analysis of data
- Alignment with Reason’s mission to advance libertarian principles
