Charles Paul Freund regularly writes on politics and culture as a senior editor at Reason, the critically acclaimed monthly magazine of free minds and free markets.

Fruend's work has frequently appeared in The Washington Post, where he served as assistant editor of the weekly Outlook section from 1988 until 1992, and in The New Republic, where he wrote a weekly column from 1986 to 1988. His articles, essays and reviews have appeared in The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, Village Voice, Esquire, Columbia Journalism Review, American Photographer, American Film, and in newspapers throughout the United States.

A long-time documentary filmmaker, Mr. Freund has written many film scripts for Universal Studios' Documentary Division, United Press International Television News and the United States Information Agency. Films he has written or helped produce have received such non-fiction film honors as The Golden Eagle and a Special Jury Prize from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He has also taught documentary film, film production and film history at the university level.

Mr. Freund is a graduate of the University of Southern California film school.
