May 6 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Are you stoic? There’s a reason an ancient philosophy built on virtue, reason, and self-control is so popular in a world that just seems to get crazier and crazier.
Join Nick Gillespie at the Reason Speakeasy on Tuesday, May 6 when he’ll talk with Robert Rosenkranz, author of The Stoic Capitalist: Advice for the Exceptionally Ambitious, and take a deep dive into how stoic principles can lead to personal, financial, and societal success.
The Reason Speakeasy is a monthly unscripted conversation with outspoken defenders of free thinking and heterodoxy in an age of intellectual conformity and groupthink. The event doubles as a live taping of The Reason Interview With Nick Gillespie.
Bob is the chairman of Delphi Capital Management and founder of Open to Debate, a nonprofit that hosts nationally broadcast debates about the toughest issues of the day. His efforts seek to demonstrate the power of rational thinking and purposeful action, and his investments, philanthropic initiatives, and intellectual ventures reflect a deep commitment to intense but civil debate, advancing innovation, championing economic and civil liberties, and improving the human condition.
Bob and I will discuss his new book, The Stoic Capitalist, which explores the intersection of ancient stoic wisdom and modern capitalism, offering a blueprint for navigating the complexities of life and business. We’ll also talk about lessons learned throughout Bob’s long and successful career in business and philanthropy, sharing personal stories, practical advice, and key insights.
The Reason Speakeasy will be hosted at the Blue Building at 222 E 46th St. in Midtown Manhattan. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and my discussion with Robert will begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by audience Q&A. Tickets are $15 and beer, wine, soft drinks, and light fare will be served.
