Reason Speakeasy: Greg Lukianoff and Rikki Schlott

October 23, 2023 @ 6:30 pm

The Reason Speakeasy is a monthly, unscripted conversation with outspoken defenders of free thinking and heterodoxy. It doubles as a live taping of The Reason Interview with Nick Gillespie podcast.

The guests this time are Greg Lukianoff, president of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), and Rikki Schlott, a New York Post columnist and Reason contributor, who will discuss their new book, The Canceling of the American Mind: How Cancel Culture Undermines Trust, Destroys Institutions, and Threatens Us All.

In 2018, Greg coauthored (with Jonathan Haidt) The Coddling of the American Mind, which documented how colleges and universities had become the enemies of a rich intellectual and cultural life. The Canceling of the American Mind extends and updates that analysis and offers concrete solutions on how to fight back against attempts to shut down free speech on campus, social media, and in the workplace.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program starts at 7:00 p.m. Ticket includes beer, wine, soft drinks, and a buffet of light food.
