Virginia Governor Mark Warner recently announced a tax “reform” package that included over $500 million of new taxes….annually! This is despite pledging not to raise taxes during the campaign just a short time ago. There has been a groundswell of opposition to the proposal, culminating into a new website No Tax Hike! The site includes a petition that anyone can sign (its highly recommended for Virginians) to show solidarity against the tax. However, not to be outdone State Senator John Chichester proposed his own tax package that dwarfs the governors. His plan would raise taxes $2.5 billion annually!! What’s most disturbing is that the good senator is suggesting that his proposal will allow the state to make good on “many tax cuts it has promised over the last several years.” WOW!!
