Economist Russ Roberts points out that a recent Zogby poll finds that the #1 reason given by people who no longer believe in the American Dream is “The powers that be don’t care about people like me.” I’m almost speechless. Since when does believing in the American Dream require the Man to care about you? Au contraire, amigo (see what a melting pot we are!) the problem is that the powers that be are trying to take care of every joe blow out there, bungling it, and trampling all over the American Dream in the process.
