Bus ridership is at its highest level since 1965: The congestion charge has helped buses move faster in the middle of town and has prompted a 20 per cent growth in the number of passengers in the central area in the past year alone. Very few experiences are as frustrating as waiting half an hour for a bus you really need that is supposed to run every six minutes, and then finding several buses arrive at once, but such infuriating bunching does not happen as often as it used to. A virtuous circle of rapidly increasing use leading to rapidly improving levels of service is no longer out of the question. (Via Planetizen)
