Following the example of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who got reams of great press across the country for doing nothing but suggesting that municipal wireless was a civil right, mayors in cities large and small have seized on municipal WiFi as a way to attract breathless media and distract attention from more mundane administrative woes.
