About the Role
Reason is looking for an Assistant Video Editor Fellow. This year-long experience will give you a chance to explore and promote the principles of individual liberty, free markets, and the rule of law while building your resume and learning from seasoned professionals who share your passion for free minds and free markets. You would be responsible for video editing tasks for our video podcasts and YouTube shows including but not limited to selecting and creating clips, creating shorts, and setting up and organizing Adobe Premiere projects.
We’re looking for someone self-motivated, highly organized, and tech savvy. Basic video editing experience with Adobe Premiere or an equivalent program and/or experience in a college radio station or podcast studio is ideal. An understanding of Reason’s mission, and an appreciation for the libertarian worldview, are a plus. This role is located in Reason’s Washington, D.C. office and reports to the Managing Editor of Video and Podcasts.
Responsibilities
- Setting up and organizing Adobe Premiere projects
- Stringing out radio cuts
- Coordinating with the motion graphics team and sound engineer
- Using AI tools for transcription
- Working with the hosts of our video podcasts and YouTube shows to select clips
- Creating clips of our video podcasts and YouTube shows
- Creating YouTube shorts of our video podcasts and YouTube shows
- Uploading media to YouTube and other platforms
- Working with the marketing team to promote our various video podcasts and YouTube shows
- Assisting with setting up the D.C. studio and serving as a camera operator
Qualifications
- Basic video editing experience and knowledge of production software
- Avid consumption of podcasts and YouTube videos
- Experience producing or publishing on YouTube is a plus
- Experience with Adobe Premiere is a plus
- Experience working in a video studio environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to pick out attention-grabbing shots
- Strong project management skills
- An understanding of Reason’s mission and an appreciation for the libertarian worldview, are a plus
