When you were a kid, did you think The Jetsons was the future?
The popular cartoon, which predicted interactive television (Zoom calls!), robot maids (Roombas, which don’t approach Rosie’s room-cleaning skills), and flying cars (still way in the future!) was set in 2062, which is less than 40 years away. We have a lot to accomplish between then and now if we want to live in the vision that Hanna-Barbera predicted—but perhaps our goals have changed?
On Monday, October 16, please join Reason Editor in Chief Katherine Mangu-Ward and two of today’s most interesting and opinionated thinkers for a spirited discussion of the cultural conditions that drive progress. Acclaimed author (and former Reason editor in chief) Virginia Postrel—who isn’t a Jetsons’ fan—and American Enterprise Institute scholar James Pethokoukis—who is—will consider how breakthroughs in technology and ideas move us forward.
Please register for this lively evening by October 9.
