States with legal marijuana of any form face difficult choices about how to structure the tax regime. In such a novel market, state governments have options ranging from broad wholesale taxes down to point of sale retail taxes.
In this webinar evaluating the different approaches states can take to marijuana taxation, Reason Foundation’s Geoffrey Lawrence and Spence Purnell, along with Adam Levin, a principal associate of the Pew Charitable Trusts, and Ulrik Boesen, a senior policy analyst with the Center for State Tax Policy at the Tax Foundation, examine the policies that have and have not worked in states that have legalized marijuana.
