As the Obama administration pleads for billions to bail out public education keep in mind stories like this from the New York Post :
The number of employees in the school system earning $150,000 or more surged by 25 percent this year, even as the city braces for stinging cuts in education aid from Albany.
A list compiled by the Independent Budget Office at The Post’s request shows that the Department of Education now lists 306 individuals in the rarefied $150,000-and-up league, compared to 246 last June.
There were a total of 1,386 in all city-funded agencies; last June, there were 1,306.
NYC ED department employees were not alone:
Sanitation Department employees in the $150,000 league more than doubled, from 20 to 42.
