Predictably, there’s controversy in Brooklyn about adopting New Jersey’s Nets. And it’s not just the New Yorker’s aversion to anything that comes from west of the Hudson. Some say pro basketball will help revitalize the borough. But as is often the case, big plans like these often follow revitalization that has already taken place. Fort Green, Red Hook, Greenpoint, Park Slope and other neighborhoods have been transforming for years. And no, the Nets are no replacement for the Dodgers.
