Stephen Van Beek
Dr. Stephen D. Van Beek is director and head of North American Aviation for Steer Davies Gleave (SDG), a global transport consultancy, where he provides consulting services on aviation policy and regulation, public-private partnerships and strategic planning. His clients include airport authorities, private sector companies, and governments at all levels.
Dr. Van Beek's aviation experience includes holding economics and policy assignments with Airports Council International, both in Washington and Montreal, serving as associate deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation during the administration of President Bill Clinton, and serving as a member of the FAA's Management Advisory Council (2011- 2013), which issued a report on the future of aviation policy, governance and finance. He also serves as a senior transport advisor to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Van Beek earned a master's and doctoral degrees in government and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
