Missouri Gov. Blunt on State's Highway Rankings

Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt comments on his state's improving ranking in Reason Foundation's 17th Annual Report on the Performance of State Highway System:

"This is a dramatic turnaround for our state's transportation infrastructure and I commend the department for this remarkable achievement.

"I am proud of the commissioners I have appointed to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. We have a solid, cooperative commission and a good director, and they deserve credit for this accomplishment.

"Improving Missouri's transportation infrastructure has been a priority of my administration. As governor, I have supported innovation throughout state government including the initiative to rebuild Highway 40 and Missouri's Safe and Sound Bridge Program.

"While we need to do even more to improve Missouri's roads and bridges, we have made real progress over the last three and a half years."
