Bio

Jack Furney is a policy analyst and deputy director of privatization and government reform at Reason Foundation, a nonprofit think tank advancing free minds and free markets.

Mr. Furney has an extensive career in state government, serving in Florida Governor Jeb Bush's administration from 2001 to 2006 in various capacities, including Senior Analyst in the Environmental Policy Unit and Chief of Policy and Budget in the Center for Efficient Government, where he was instrumental in its creation and development.

In addition to his work in Florida, Jack has advised state and local elected officials nationwide to reduce government, improve government performance, and enhance accountability. He has authored numerous articles on managed competition and government efficiency, and is a contributor to the Annual Privatization Report, which examines trends and chronicles the experiences of local, state, and federal governments in bringing competition to public services.

Mr. Furney has a strong, diversified background in policy and budget analysis focusing on competition, government efficiency, government spending and waste, transparency, accountability, and government performance.

Mr. Furney attended Florida State University, concentrating in political science and public administration. He resides in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife and daughter.
