Transit riders fall, revenues rise

From the New York Daily News: Hundreds of thousands of riders are staying away from the subways and buses, thanks to the spring’s fare hike, according to a new Transit Authority report. Ridership was down nearly 200,000 a day in July compared with the same period last year. But the TA isn’t crying poverty – the 50-cent fare boost still brought in an extra $35 million compared with July 2002.
