Harsh truths revealed

Gov. Romney in Massachusetts spoke out to city officials complaining about state funding cuts, pointing out their own increased spending and overly generous deals with government workers are the root of their problems. Romney points out that city revenues have increase, but, wouldn’t you know, cities have increased spending even faster. Romney says, “We in the public sector have gotten used to the idea that we can just keep on growing and growing and grow faster than the rate of the incomes of the people we tax.” There is a lot of smoke and mirrors, but the article shows that cities have cranked up spending faster than revenue. Government finance once again resorts to wishful thinking.
