Whether residents like it or not:
Despite vocal opposition from numerous South Natomas residents, the Sacramento Regional Transit District board decided overwhelmingly Monday night to build a light-rail line from downtown to Sacramento International Airport along Truxel Road.
But deal's not quite done. There's still the matter of funding:
RT General Manager Beverly Scott acknowledged, however, that the agency will not have the money to build the first phase, estimated at $291 million, unless county voters approve an extension and expansion of an existing half-cent sales tax for transportation projects.
That issue may be on the county ballot as early as next November.
