Company to N.C. Officials: Pay up or else

Lenovo Group, the Chinese company that bought IBM’s personal computer business in May, wants the state and Durham to put together an incentive package worth about $14 million to keep the company and its 1,800 workers in the Research Triangle Park area. Documents obtained by The Herald-Sun say Lenovo, which is operating temporarily out of IBM buildings, wants to build a $75 million campus and is looking at sites in Durham and Wake counties. The company estimates that it would add 400 new workers by 2009.
