Reason Speakeasy: Glenn Greenwald

May 21 @ 6:30 pm 9:00 pm

The Reason Speakeasy is a monthly, unscripted conversation with outspoken defenders of free expression and heterodox thinking. It doubles as a live taping ofThe Reason Interview with Nick Gillespie podcast and takes place at one of the coolest settings in Manhattan.

The guest this time is firebrand journalist Glenn Greenwald, whose work publicizing Edward Snowden’s revelations of ubiquitous surveillance by the National Security Agency (NSA) helped The Guardian win a Pulitzer Prize. In 2014, Greenwald founded The Intercept, an independent website with whom he had an acrimonious falling out in 2020. Greenwald now hosts the nightly news show System Update on Rumble and maintains an active presence on X (formerly Twitter). He will talk about shifting political alliances, changes in the media landscape, U.S. foreign policy under Presidents Trump and Biden, and the 2024 presidential race.

The Reason Speakeasy takes place at the Blue Building, located at 222 East 46th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., program starts at 7:00 p.m. and features audience Q&A.

Ticket includes beer, wine, soft drinks, a buffet of snacks and appetizers, and an evening of camaraderie and conversation.
