ReasonNYC – Man or Microbe? Featuring Prof. Dave Sands

  • June 23, 2012
    6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Dave Sands, an enigmatic bacteriologist, will explore the interconnected role of bacteria and micronutrients in the human body. Among other inter-related topics, he may discuss

— Is industrial agriculture malnourishing our microbiome?

— What is the right approach to improving nutrition in poor countries?

— How can we improve nutrition by cultivating better plants?

— Can better nutrition enable humans to be healthier, happier and more harmonious?

About the speaker

Part professor, part innovator, Dave Sands is in a Molecular Biosciences Group (Plant Sciences) at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Not limited by physical, geographical boundaries, his research about bacteria also extends into the realms of the earth’s atmosphere (discussed in a recent cover story in Discover magazine and at TedX Bozeman).
