We have a lot to accomplish between then and now if we want to live in the vision that Hanna-Barbera predicted—but perhaps our goals have changed? \n\n\n\nOn Monday\, October 16\, please join Reason Editor in Chief Katherine Mangu-Ward and two of today’s most interesting and opinionated thinkers for a spirited discussion of the cultural conditions that drive progress. DESCRIPTION:“Welcome to the psychedelic ‘20s!” says Rick Doblin\, the founder and head of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelics Studies (MAPS)\, a nonprofit that has been pushing for FDA approval of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD and other indications for almost 40 years. He predicts that should happen within a year’s time\, even as states such as Oregon and Colorado move ahead with decriminalizing plant-based psychedelics and other drugs. \n\n\n\nDoblin is one of the main figures in Reason’s new documentary\, Welcome To the Psychedelic Renaissance\, which was filmed at MAPS’ Psychedelic Sciences Conference held this June in Denver. A reported 13\,000 researchers\, artists\, activists\, thrill-seekers\, and venture capitalists gathered to discuss all aspects of an underground movement that is fast gaining mainstream and legal acceptance. But will today’s psychedelic renaissance succeed\, or fall victim to the cultural and political problems that undermined its forerunner in the 1960s? \n\n\n\nJoin Reason’s Nick Gillespie for a viewing of the 30-minute documentary\, followed by a live discussion with Rick Doblin about the past\, present\, and future of psychedelics\, drug policy\, and drug use.
