Free Cities with Tom W. Bell, Los Angeles, July 23

  •  July 23, 2013
     8:00 am

The notion of carving out an area inside an existing country with its own set of economically free laws is gaining steam in the 21st century, with Honduras the focus of the latest efforts to create a free community featuring a thriving business climate, schools, hospitals, welfare infrastructure, and security. (Senior Editor Brian Doherty wrote about the free cities phenomenon in the June issue of Reason.) But can this really work? Chapman University professor Tom W. Bell will sit down with Reason.tv to look at the challenges, failures and triumphs in Honduras, and make some predictions about the future of this principled libertarian model.
