|In 2016, Gary Johnson and Bill Weld ran the most successful Libertarian Party Presidential Campaign in the party’s history, garnering 4.5 million votes nationwide.
Supporters of the ticket felt that Johnson-Weld had put the Libertarian Party on the map.
But many libertarians were unhappy with the Johnson-Weld candidacy and thought the party had sold out many of its principles in a bid for mainstream recognition.
On Tuesday, September 10, Dave Smith, host of the Part of the Problem podcast and the Soho Forum’s regular warm-up act, will defend the resolution: The Libertarian Party should never again put up national candidates with views similar to those of Gary Johnson and Bill Weld.
Opposing Dave will be Nicholas Sarwark, Chairman of the Libertarian Party’s National Committee.
Filling in for Dave as warm-upact: Rob Bernstein, Dave’s co-host on Part of the Problem.
