This important feature-length film uses both archival footage and personal stories to demonstrate how the war on drugs has eviscerated civil liberties, strained the prison system to its breaking point, saddled Americans with billions in debt, and left more than 60,000 Mexicans dead. America’s Longest War chronicles how the drug war has escalated from a small domestic program mostly focused on treatment to the multi-billion dollar international war it is today. Please join us after the film for a panel discussion with Reason Foundation President David Nott, Show-Me Cannabis Executive Director John Payne, and Trish and Daryl Bertrand, a Springfield couple whose lives were turned upside down by the drug war (Reason covered the Bertrand’s story in the July 2013 issue).
