Do the suburbs make you fat?

Bloomberg’s Anderew Ferguson takes an interesting look at this question. The real contribution of this article, though, may be the coining of a new phrase: “the policy non sequitur — the unexpected joining together of two unrelated political issues in the service of ideological opportunism.” Of course, he does get down to a serious proposal: Fat people who don’t pay their child support payments should be banned from eating potato chips while shopping for guns at Wal-Mart. It’s a national emergency.
