Wal-Mart or Food stamps: Whatís the principled stand?

Jack Powell is a singer-guitarist for the Zucchini Brothers. Three days a week he works as a substitute teaching assistant. That gig gets him about $70 per day and sometimes he works at funeral homes to make extra money. He's always lived a frugal life and that has long meant stretching dollars at Wal-Mart. That changed after a colleague exposed him to the many "evils" of the biggest box: Powell might not like the benefits WM employees get, but he gets zero benefits working as a sub. Maybe the next principled stand will be to quit his job. Seems like that might suit him just fine: Non-Onion article here.
