Putting Performance First
Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels issued the Indiana State Government Performance Report for July to December 2006, its the fourth of his administration and is truly unique in state government. The midterm update shows that agencies are making steady improvement, with nearly 40 percent of results in the top-performing category compared to about 25 percent for a comparable period in 2005. Daniels and his team at the Indiana Office of Management and Budget have worked tirelessly to show that state government can become a performance-based organization. An orgnaization that is committed to results and focused on continuous improvement in service and cost reduction. Performance measurement is used to ensure accountability but also empower employees to succeed. Truly a model for the nation.
