Monofail

After 107 days, the Vegas monorail opened for business again: Three times metal parts fell from moving trains this year, necessitating a redesign of the train's drive shaft. The last incident, Sept. 8, prompted the shutdown that ended Friday. Tom Kirkendall has more scoop on the monorail, which has earned the nickname "monofail." (Although, given its many mishaps, should be "multifail"?) Anyhow, the project is rather unique in that is mostly private, but it looks like future lines will seek out public dough.
