Card Check Support Cracking?

A Wall Street Journal report suggests that the base of support in the Senate for "Card Check" may be cracking. The legislation that would create the capacity for unions to strong arm membership and business into higher wages and benefits with federal ammunition. While the bill is expected to easily pass the house, WSJ reports:

At least six Senators who have voted to move forward with the so-called card-check proposal, including one Republican, now say they are opposed or not sure -- an indication that Senate Democratic leaders are short of the 60 votes they need for approval.

The failure of card check would be a big positive in this climate of increased government regulation and control, and it would be a huge win for businesses that are terrified of even more handcuffs during the economic downturn.
