Reason Foundation

Almost 35 years ago the Rural Telephone Bank was created to subsidize phone service in rural areas. Now that cell phones cover all the US save a few pockets of government-owned wilderness, the slow process of privatizing the Bank has begun. You'd think it would just be eliminated, but as you know that rarely happens to a government project. But sink or swim in the private sector is pretty good. I'd like to see them accelerate the process so it doesn't drag out another 5 years, and be sure no subtle government backing or unusual guarantees remain.
