Reason Foundation is pleased to be a cooperating organization for Convergence 08, a special weekend event organized by the Foresight Nanotech Institute and Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence focusing on powerful long-term technologies, especially those in the NBIC (Nano-Bio-Info-Cogno) set of converging advances. The meeting will be held at the Computer History Museum at Mountain View in Silicon Valley.
As the leading nanotech and AI public interest groups, Foresight Nanotech Institute (www.foresight.org) and SIAI (www.singinst.org) attract thought leaders to their conferences, The event will explore what's coming in technology and brainstorm on how to respond in our personal and professional lives. Speakers/participants from previous meetings include: Stewart Brand, Sergey Brin, John Doerr, Eric Drexler, Esther Dyson, Doug Engelbart, Douglas Hofstadter, Bill Joy, Steve Jurvetson, Ray Kurzweil, Peter Norvig, Tim O'Reilly, Paul Saffo, Eric Schmidt, and Stephen Wolfram.
